Today’s Digital Age is providing immediate access to data and information at wider and wider quantity, and the acceleration of digital transformation is offering new paradigms for creating and managing knowledge. Leveraging the power and the opportunities offered by the digitalisation new businesses and significant business model innovations have emerged. In this new business landscape strategic knowledge and intellectual capital management are increasingly playing a new fundamental role in organisational value creation dynamics. There is an increasing need for internationally qualified human resourced and performing technological infrastructures in a time where new humanism and digitalisation assume more and more significance and impact. The relevance of understanding how to manage knowledge in today’s digital age applies not only to world-wide recognised companies but also to small and medium-sized enterprises as well as to public organisations.
Through the exploitation of hard and soft technological infrastructures and the related huge volumes of data available, nowadays companies and employees may easily improve their way to access, create, organize, share and use information and knowledge, as well to extend their knowledge of access to their business partners and customers in order to enhance activities and processes in collaborative product development, service delivery and project accomplishment. Moreover, technology can significantly promote organisational culture by changing employees attitudes and behaviours regarding communication, collaboration, information sharing, learning, and decision-making. In this context, entrepreneurs and managers play an essential role in the elaboration and the implementation of renewed and effective business models and knowledge management systems capable to creating conditions whereby organizations and people are willing to access and value big data, apply knowledge, share it and exchange it internally as well in the whole business ecosystem to ensure firm’s productivity and competitiveness, innovation capacity and sustainable paths of growth and impact to improve societal well-being and quality of life.
The XV edition of IFKAD aims to represent a space of inspiration and knowledge, as well as an ‘agora’ of learning, networking and sharing where experts, entrepreneurs, professionals and academics meet to discuss about why and how technologies and digital transformation may act as levers to innovate, transform and improve knowledge management systems, working schemes, innovation processes, business models and customer-orientation, as well as to understand how public organizations may improve their level of efficiency and the value provided to the citizens, making government more transparent and responsive, trying to raise quality of life and, accordingly, drive territorial development and positive change in society.
The main goal of IFKAD 2020 is to forge a strong connection between theory and management, enhancing and promoting the transfer of research results to real-world management practices and policies, drawing together scholars who are working at the forefront of research domain with the emerging business and government challenges, such as knowledge divide, threats to privacy, and the potential loss of diversity of knowledge.
IFKAD 2020 will include strong theoretical, conceptual and empirical papers using quantitative and qualitative approaches exploring the main theme of Knowledge in the Digital Age, and it will also host special tracks focusing on other related topics. Moreover, the Forum´s PhD sessions will give a unique opportunity to postgraduates and PhD students to present and discuss their work, and to gather feedback from international experts to further develop their research projects.
IFKAD 2020 will be hosted in the suggestive frame of the city of Rome. It represents an ideal place to discuss the role and the impact of the new relationships between knowledge management and digital transformation, and to be inspired about how to balance competitiveness and growth with good employability, social and environmental sustainability and quality of life.
