Overview
GILT Books is the book series of the GILT project – Governance, International Law & Technology. It includes open-access publications released by Roma Tre University Press and is one of the project’s three components, together with the GILT Centre, the research centre hosted by Roma Tre University, and the GILT Journal, a scholarly periodical.
Scope
The series forms part of the research framework of the GILT project. The project sits at the intersection of traditional international law, global governance studies, and the analysis of emerging technologies, a space that remains relatively underdeveloped in Europe. Its underlying question is how power is produced, distributed, exercised, and constrained in the age of digital technologies. The project addresses it in relation to themes such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, algorithmic regulation, digital infrastructures, and technological competition among major powers.
Objectives
GILT aims to build, over time, a repository of reflection on the evolution of technological governance, over a 5–15 year horizon. It does not wish merely to comment on current developments, but to accompany and shape the debate in the years ahead. The series contributes to this objective with volumes meant to endure beyond individual regulatory developments. Open access, envisaged for the publications released by Roma Tre University Press, makes them freely accessible.
Relationship with the Centre and the Journal
GILT Books, the GILT Centre, and the GILT Journal share the same intellectual framework. The Centre is the home of research. The Journal is the periodical, organized into sections, including two sections of peer-reviewed articles. GILT Books is the space devoted to the publication of volumes.
