21201457 - INDUSTRIAL ECONOMICS - ADVANCED COURSE

The course will provide participants with:
• Analytical tools to examine the strategic behaviour of firms in oligopolistic markets
• Frameworks to understand the nature, characteristics, and managerial implications of industrial competition
• The ability to recognise and interpret the competitive strategies adopted by firms
• Methodologies to analyse market entry and exit dynamics in both oligopolistic and non-oligopolistic contexts
• Knowledge to assess the characteristics and limitations of the neoclassical theory of the firm, as well as the main alternative theories
• Tools to understand the decision-making processes of firms, managers, and consumers under conditions of high uncertainty
• The ability to identify heuristics and cognitive biases that influence managerial and consumer decisions
• Techniques to enhance the quality of individual, group, and organisational decision-making
• Tools to manage uncertainty and foster innovation in complex environments
• Skills to integrate economic theory with managerial practice to support more informed and effective decisions

Behavioural Industrial Organisation
• Introduction to behavioural economics
• Individual decision-making: heuristics and cognitive biases
• Nudge theory and de-biasing techniques
• Group decision-making processes and organizational repairs
• Behavioural economics, consumer behaviour, and firms’ strategic decisions
• Uncertainty, industrial innovation, and strategic firm behaviour
• Behavioural economics and the failures of industrial firms
