Abstract: Quantum materials can be generally defined as those solid-state structures hosting physical phenomena which, even at the macroscopic scale, cannot be captured by a purely classical description. Among such quantum phenomena, those related to the geometric properties of the electronic wavefunctions play undoubtedly a primary role. In this talk I will introduce the quantum geometric tensor and discuss how the electronic transport responses of quantum materials are intrinsically linked to the quantum metric and the Berry curvature: the real and imaginary part of quantum geometric tensor respectively. In particular, I will discuss specific non-linear responses, including a non-linear Hall effect with time-reversal symmetry and a non-linear in-plane transversal magnetoresistance which have been shown to occur in a number of quantum materials. I will also discuss the relevance of these effects for high-frequency rectifiers and multipliers.
